In every fleet there exists equipment that has a life of its own regardless of the vehicle to which it is currently attached. These components need to be tracked in order to provide the fleet manager instant access to information on a specific component; such as its' present status, present location, and history.

Any item that can be identified with a unique serial number can now be tracked, like; transmissions, blowers, engine blocks, compressors, bogies, radios, etc.
